Job Summary
Deliver a variety of support duties related to the student's IEP under direct supervision of a classroom teacher, including adapting curriculum, assisting with academic work, and providing physical assistance for mobility and hygiene needs. Monitor student behavior using calming techniques, safely restrain students when necessary, and escort students during travel, lunch, recess, and field trips. Assist with instructional materials, supervise testing, and participate in staff meetings and professional learning as requested. Maintain confidentiality and ensure a safe, supportive environment for children with special needs while performing duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Willingness to complete CPI training
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of students, schools, teachers and classrooms
- Consistent and reliable attendance
- The employee will remain free of any alcohol or drugs throughout his/her employment with the district
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree
- Experience working in an academic environment
- Experience working with school age youth
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Excellent organizational, communication, and recordkeeping skills
