Job Summary
Deliver a variety of support duties related to academic programs and maintaining a healthy, safe school environment for children with special needs under direct supervision. Adapt curriculum, provide parallel activities, and assist students with academic work, testing, and communication. Provide physical assistance including mobility support, hygiene tasks, and transportation to and from buses. Monitor environmental cues, apply calming techniques, and assist with behavioral intervention programs. Escort students during travel, supervise lunch and recess, and accompany them on field trips and community outings. Attend staff meetings and professional learning as requested while maintaining student confidentiality and completing required CPI training.
Required Qualifications
- Willingness to complete CPI training
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of students, schools, teachers and classrooms
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust/focus
- Consistent and reliable attendance
- Free of any alcohol or drugs throughout employment
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree
- Experience working in an academic environment
- Experience working with school age youth
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Excellent organizational, communication, and recordkeeping skills
