Job Summary
Deliver a variety of support duties related to a sound academic program and maintaining a healthy, safe environment for children with special needs under direct supervision. Adapt curriculum, provide parallel activities, and assist students with academic work, testing, and communication. Provide physical assistance including mobility support, hygiene, and dressing, while monitoring environmental cues and implementing behavioral interventions. Escort students during travel, supervise recess, and assist with field trips. Maintain student confidentiality, attend staff meetings, and participate in professional learning as requested.
Required Qualifications
- Willingness to complete CPI training
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of students, schools, teachers and classrooms
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must be able to talk, hear (in a quiet or noisy environment)
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Must have close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust/focus
- Must remain free of any alcohol or drugs throughout employment
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree
- Experience working in an academic environment
- Experience working with school age youth
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Excellent organizational, communication, and recordkeeping skills
