Job Summary
Special Education Paraprofessional position at East Lyme School. Reports to Building/Department Administrator. 10-month, 25-hour position with pay according to CT paraprofessional scales: Cat I ($20.71/hr), Cat II ($21.22/hr), Cat III ($23.62/hr). Primary duties include supervising and supporting students in regular and special education classrooms under certified staff, assisting with instruction, implementing strategies to reinforce behavior and learning, collecting data on student performance, and providing general instructional and clerical support as needed. Requires an Associate’s degree or 60 college credits or ParaPro exam; bachelor’s degree preferred. Compliance with state background checks required. Equal opportunity employer.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of an Associates Degree or the equivalent college credits (60) or a passing score on the CT ParaPro exam is required
- Bachelor's degree is preferred
- Must be mobile with ability to move between locations in the office or on site
- Ability to lift and carry objects less than thirty (30) pounds
- Ability to sit or stand for long periods
- Ability to concentrate for more than 60 minutes
- Must be able to work in school environment indoors and outdoors
- Connecticut requires criminal history background check within first 30 days of employment
