Job Summary
Special Education Paraprofessional at Thompson Middle School supports a special education classroom and/or individual students under the supervision of a teacher. Responsibilities include adapting classroom activities, assisting with instructional objectives and IEP goals, supervising students, monitoring behavior and safety, performing record-keeping and clerical tasks, assisting with health/hygiene needs, and providing one-on-one or small-group instruction. Requires stamina for lifting/movement of ambulatory students, ability to maintain confidentiality, strong communication, and ability to work in a multi-cultural urban setting. High school graduate with 60 college credits (or equivalent) or a passing Paraprofessional assessment is required.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- A minimum of 60 semester hours of credit at an accredited college or university (or) pass the ETS Paraprofessional Assessment Test with a score of 460 or higher.
- Previous experience working with special education students is preferred
