Job Summary
Assist teachers in providing small-group and individual instruction in a preschool setting, translate as needed, support development of self-help, speech, and motor skills, participate on the student’s IEP team, implement behavioral strategies, monitor student objectives, and ensure student safety. The role involves assisting with disciplinary practices, maintaining classroom routines, and performing duties such as toileting/personal care as assigned by building administrators. Bilingual Spanish required; requires passing a Spanish proficiency assessment and ability to communicate with parents as needed. Hours are 8:20 am–3:20 pm, 179 contracted days plus holidays; salary per the PSE Collective Bargaining Agreement (Schedule A).
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate, or GED
- AA degree, or 48 semester credits or 72-quarter credits from an institution of higher education (level 100 class or higher)
- or having successfully passed the ETS ParaPro Assessment
- Dependable, trustworthy, experience working with children and adults, good time manager, and initiative
- Physically able to occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds
- Ability to walk, stand, sit, stoop, bend, reach, kneel, crawl, and grasp as required to successfully perform all duties
- Must pass Spanish proficiency test administered by OSD (oral and written)
