Job Summary
Assist the supervising teacher in providing functional, instructional, and behavioral support to meet the needs of students with disabilities. Comply with assignments, extracurricular duties, and all School Board Policies and State Laws. Maintain student confidentiality, including records and behaviors. Implement services outlined in Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and prepare the classroom environment, including acquiring resources and using assistive technology. Provide individualized support for student preferences and assist with daily life activities such as toileting, mobility, and hygiene. Participate in in-service training programs as needed. Perform other duties assigned by the administrator. Requires a high school diploma, valid driver's license, and ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds. 192-day employment term.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent
- Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history
- Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Must have the ability to exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, to enter data into a computer, and to perform required tasks
- Must have the ability to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids
- Must have the ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels
- Must have the ability to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly
- Must have physical agility to lift 25 to 50 pounds
- Must have the ability to bend, to stoop, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk and to reach overhead
