Job Summary
Provide instruction to students under teacher direction, working with individuals or small groups while assisting with instructional materials and classroom displays. Supervise students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty, and make teachers aware of special needs or problems. Assist with administration and scoring of objective testing instruments, maintain neat classroom environments, and help with equipment inventory and administrative record preparation. Participate in staff development training programs and faculty meetings as assigned. Requires a valid Texas education aide certificate, high school diploma, and ability to work well with children.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Para Professional Certification or Associate's degree, two years of study at an institution of higher learning or have met formal academic assessment as required by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
- Valid Texas education aide certificate
- Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
- Ability to work well with children
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Some experience working with children
- Moderate standing; occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping
- Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
- Work with frequent interruptions
- Maintain emotional control under stress
