Job Summary
Provides competent support to the special education classroom teacher in implementing instructional programs. Meets and instructs groups/individuals as designated by the teacher; prepares materials; assists in meeting individual student needs; collects IEP goal data; maintains classroom order and safety; enforces rules; assists with student health tasks as trained; participates in staff training and meetings; protects student confidentiality; supports positive behavioral interventions and data collection for review; demonstrates ability to organize activities, adapt to changing conditions, and manage groups of children across a school day.
Required Qualifications
- Qualify for a Paraprofessional Certificate by either holding an Associate's Degree or higher or 90 college quarter hours/60 semester hours
- or pass the assessment test for paraprofessionals (GACE)
- The ability to organize and direct small and large groups of children in a variety of activities and settings
- The ability to adjust to changing conditions and situations
- Experience working with and directing the activities of children
