Job Summary
Special Education Paraeducator at the Support Center provides instructional support to students with disabilities, including academic instruction and modified curricula. The role may involve working with a single student and assisting with functional academics, daily living skills, prevocational/vocational skills, behavior skills, and social skills. Requires meeting state paraeducator requirements, including education credentials or equivalency, and training with a General Paraeducator Certificate. Training commitments include 28 hours of district-provided Fundamental Course of Study and 10 days (70 clock hours) of professional development for the general certificate. This position is aligned with a 191-day calendar, Monday–Friday schedule, and school-year terms, with potential bus-riding flexibility.
Required Qualifications
- Be at least eighteen years of age
- Hold a high school diploma or its equivalent
- One of: Hold an associate degree or higher; Earn 72 quarter credits or 48 semester credits at 100 level or higher; Score 455+ on ParaPro; Score 220+ on Pearson Paraprofessional assessment; Score 65%+ on Master Teacher Paraeducator Online Training; Complete an apprenticeship as a paraeducator; Provide official transcript or assessment score as proof
