Job Summary
Assist special education teachers and specialists in accommodating lessons and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities. Provide academic and behavioral support to students inside and outside the classroom while collaborating with therapists and nurses to maintain a safe, supportive learning environment. Supervise students with daily tasks including mobility, transitions, hygiene, and self-regulation, modeling appropriate behavior and collecting accurate data to communicate student progress. Foster a positive atmosphere promoting social and emotional growth within Reading Public Schools' inclusive educational community.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma and/or related work experience
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience working with students with disabilities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Patience, empathy, and genuine passion for working with students with diverse needs
- Ability to follow directions, work independently, and adapt to changing situations
- Completion of trainings as required (i.e. CPR, first aid, restraint)
