Job Summary
Special Education Paraprofessional provides classroom support under a special educator, overseeing a small caseload of students with moderate to severe needs. Responsibilities include implementing rigorous academic and behavior intervention systems, maintaining high expectations, driving student achievement, leading daily individual and small-group tutoring, and communicating effectively with students, families, and colleagues. Requires a high-school diploma or GED plus 60 college credits or an Associate’s Degree (or a passing ParaPro/WorkKeys assessment) and US work authorization; typically supports district goals and professional development opportunities within Springfield Public Schools.
Required Qualifications
- A high-school diploma or GED
- Sixty (60) Credit Hours of College Coursework or an Associate’s Degree, or a passing score on ParaPro Assessment or WorkKeys Certificate of Proficiency for Teacher Assistants
- Current authorization to work in the United States by first day of employment
- Work Keys Exams passing scores: Reading 5, Math 4, Writing 3
