Job Summary
Provide specialized instructional support and life-skills assistance to students with disabilities as part of a paraeducator team under supervisory staff. Responsibilities include assisting with activities of daily living (toileting, feeding), ensuring safety and health needs of students, delivering direct academic, functional, and specially designed instruction, supporting students in their least restrictive environment, collecting data for functional behavior assessments, implementing components of IEPs, and collaborating with teachers and staff to promote student independence. Requires adherence to district policies, maintaining confidentiality, and performing duties in a physically demanding environment including lifting and restraints when necessary; requires First Aid/CPR certification and OSPI-paraprofessional coursework or equivalent, with possible required training in ABA, Right Response, and crisis intervention.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduation or equivalent
- ETS Paraeducator Assessment OR Associate of Arts OR 72 quarter credits OR 48 semester credits OR completion of registered apprenticeship program OR foreign degrees evaluated by NACES member
- First Aid/CPR certification
