Job Summary
Special Education Instructional Assistant II Preschool provides support to students with disabilities in preschool settings, aiding health, communication, and behavior supports to enable access to instruction in classroom, playground, and lunchroom. Responsibilities include supervising students, collaborating with teachers, collecting and reporting data on academic/behavior/health information, using assistive technology and CPI-trained de-escalation/physical skills, maintaining confidentiality, and implementing supports per Individual Health Plans and Behavior Intervention Plans. Requires ability to lift up to 50 pounds, adapt to a fast-paced environment, and engage in active supervision; prior paraeducator experience and relevant certifications preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience working with children
- Paraeducator certification preferred or equivalent
- Ability to obtain one of: paraeducator certification with early childhood endorsement, CDA, or a two-year degree or higher within one year
- ACT WorkKeys assessments in Applied Mathematics, Locating Information, and Reading for Information (NCRC) for credentialing consideration
