Job Summary
Assist classroom teachers in managing and instructing students, including delivering lessons, coordinating instructional efforts, and providing 1:1 support aligned with Individual Educational Plans. Prepare teaching aids such as charts and centers, reinforce learning concepts through group and individual assignments, and maintain an orderly classroom environment. Ensure safe supervision of all students, facilitate movement between learning environments, and support activities like field trips and assemblies. Comply with school regulations, attend required meetings, and perform other duties as assigned by administrators or teachers.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrate basic reading, writing and computation skills.
- Have experience working with groups of children.
- Have good physical and emotional health.
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Possess good character and leadership qualities.
- A criminal background check is required as a condition of employment.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- At the elementary school level, must meet the qualifications of highly qualified under No Child Left Behind Act of 2001: 'Has passed the Paraprofessional Assessment (visit www.ets,org for test information) with a minimum score of 455' or 'Has a minimum of 48 college credits' or 'A minimum of an Associate's Degree.'
- Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Must be able to move students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices.
