Job Summary
Assist students with IEPs in general and special education settings with academic, medical, and personal hygiene needs. Follow prescribed behavioral management plans, reinforce teacher-taught skills, and maintain student data. Manage individual or small groups independently while supporting transitions, lunch, and recess across school settings. Handle crisis situations using Crisis Prevention Intervention and bill Medicaid for services under professional supervision. Work with diverse students, staff, and the community while maintaining confidentiality and composure under stress.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma and Associate's degree or must successfully pass a state-approved basic skills test or must have sixty (60) hours of credit from a four-year college or university
- Previous work in childcare or related experiences with children
- Ability to work with students with special needs
- Ability to maintain composure under stressful conditions
- Ability to develop effective working relationships with students, staff, and the school community
- Ability to handle and operate standard school equipment and provide clerical services as needed
- Ability to implement teacher philosophy accurately and consistently
- Ability to be flexible and maintain confidentiality
- Demonstrates initiative and creativity – is self-directed
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds or position 90 pounds
- Must be able to climb or balance
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must be able to bend at the neck
- Must be able to use wrists
- Must be able to reach with hands and arms
- Must be able to stand, walk, sit, and talk or hear
