Job Summary
Provide TEKS-aligned instructional plans and accommodations for students with special needs; collaborate with special education staff to modify curricula per IEPs; assess student achievement; supervise teacher aides; incorporate technology in teaching; maintain accurate records; communicate with parents; participate in district professional development; ensure compliance with district policies and ethical standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject/level assigned
- Meet Highly Qualified standards established by No Child Left Behind Act of 2001, 20 U.S.C. 6311, P.L. 102-110, Section 9101
- Experience: Student teaching or approved internship
- Special Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of subjects assigned; General knowledge of curriculum and instructions; CDL required if transporting students with the following – Class B CDL with Air Brake, Passenger, & School bus endorsements; Ability to pass a DOT physical (renewed yearly); Completion of 20 hour bus driver certification course (renewed every 3 years)
- Major Responsibilities and Duties include: plan and implement curriculum, differentiate lessons, TEKS-aligned instruction, accommodations per IEP, use of assessments to drive instruction, collaborate with SPE teachers, supervise aides/volunteers, use technologies in teaching, establish communication with parents, participate in district PD, adhere to board policies and district regulations
- Professional Growth and Development: Participate in district staff development, demonstrate initiative for professional improvement
- Policy Implementation: Keep informed of state/district/school regulations and maintain required reports/records
