Job Summary
Implement instructional programming for special education students eligible for medical homebound and home-based services during regular school hours. Deliver clear, engaging lessons using IEP modifications, manage classroom materials, and utilize technology for delivery. Coordinate assignments with base-school teachers, pick up and deliver student work, and serve as a liaison between school and home. Progress monitor student performance, administer assessments, and compile required reports while complying with federal, state, and district regulations. Travel within the district to home and community locations, manage a flexible schedule, and attend professional development seminars.
Required Qualifications
- Valid South Carolina Teaching Certificate in Special Education
- Minimum 3 years successful teaching experience
- Maintain a valid driver's license and have access to reliable transportation
- Available to provide instruction in student homes/community settings during regular school day hours
- Physically capable of frequently lifting or moving up to 40 pounds
- Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Manual dexterity for the purpose of using a telephone and data entry
- Read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids
- Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone
- Speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone
- Travel within the district to home and community locations
- Manage a flexible schedule
