Special Education General Curriculum Teacher

Prepare and provide training and instruction to children with disabilities, individually and in groups. Assess and evaluate student needs to develop individualized educational programs and lesson plans, then translate these into learning experiences based on specific abilities. Provide instruction in individual or group sessions while formulating and implementing functional and behavior assessment plans. Participate in child study meetings, evaluate student progress, maintain records, and prepare progress reports. Establish a class environment favorable to learning and administer standardized tests in accordance with established procedures. Maintain professional competence through inservice education and self-selected materials. This role involves working under the regular supervision of the School Principal and Coordinator of Special Education. Eligibility requires a Virginia teaching license with appropriate endorsement and an accredited college degree.
