Job Summary
Special Education Educational Technician I, II, or III provides instructional and behavioral support to students under the supervision of a certified teacher. The role involves assisting with classroom management, implementing educational plans, supporting students with individualized needs in various educational settings, supervising and instructing small groups, and assisting with data collection and documentation of student progress. Requires knowledge of learning processes, ability to work with diverse learners including students with special needs, and strong communication and collaboration with teachers and staff.
Required Qualifications
- Ed Tech Level 1: High School Diploma or equivalent
- Ed Tech Level 2: Completion of at least 2 years of post-secondary education or 60 hours in an educational field
- Ed Tech Level 3 (Preferred): Completion of at least 3 years of post-secondary education or 90 hours in an educational field
- Maine Criminal History Record Check (CHRC)
- Educational Technician Certification
- Strong Communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and staff
- Willingness to complete any required training or certification programs
- Ability to work with diverse learners, including students with special needs
- Maintains student privacy and upholds ethical standards
- Maintain confidentiality of student records and information
- Monitor student behavior and assist in maintaining a positive classroom environment
- Assist in data collection and documentation of student progress
- Supervise, plan for, and instruct small groups of students in various settings
- Follow individualized education plans (IEPs) or behavioral plans
