Job Summary
Special Education Coordinator for Uncommon Schools leads and coordinates K-12 SPED programs across multiple urban campuses, overseeing IEP processes, documentation, and compliance while partnering with general education staff, families, and leaders to differentiate instruction and support students’ academic and social-emotional growth. The role includes coordinating intake assessments, pull-out/push-in/small group/one-on-one instruction, organizing IEP and pre-referral meetings, managing evaluation processes and tests, ensuring accommodations under 504 plans and IEPs, maintaining student records, and preparing regulatory reports. The candidate engages in ongoing professional development, collaborates with families and school teams, and uses standards-based data to refine curriculum and instruction; requires SPED teaching certification and demonstrates commitment to urban education and equitable student outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Special Education teaching certification is required.
- A demonstrated interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities (1-2 years experience preferred).
- Academic expertise in Special Education, the Humanities, Social Sciences, STEM, or related fields of study.
