Job Summary
Special Education Coordinator to support the Director of Special Education in developing, coordinating, supervising, and evaluating district-wide special education programs and services. Lead and ensure FAPE in the LRE, oversee program changes and ESY, manage staffing and compliance with state and federal laws, and collaborate with families, staff, and external partners; organize professional development and coordinate placement, transportation, and programmatic support across district buildings. Requires Master’s degree or higher and valid MA educator license with SEI endorsement, plus experience in public education and deescalation/physical restraint training; travel between district buildings is required.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree or higher
- Massachusetts educator license as Special Education Educator and Administrator
- Sheltered English Immersion (SEI) endorsement
- Experience in public education (teaching or supervising in Special Education)
- Trained, or willing to be trained, in deescalation and physical restraint techniques used by the District
- Knowledge of Special Education regulations and compliance requirements
- Ability to collaborate with families, staff, and administrators to achieve outcomes
- Flexibility to travel between district buildings within the City
- Ability to prepare and submit required reports and documentation
