Special Education Classroom Aide (Self-Contained)

Assist students with disabilities in a special education setting, helping meet physical and instructional needs. Support classroom programs including self-help, behavior management, and instructional activities; work under general supervision of the principal and the certified teacher. Prepare instructional materials, help maintain a neat classroom, manage equipment, assist with administrative records, and orient substitute teachers. Provide assistance to students with physical disabilities (transfers, lifting, positioning, personal care such as feeding and hygiene), manage classroom behavior (including crisis situations), and support motor skill development in individuals or small groups. Supervise students throughout the day (lunchroom, bus, playground) and maintain confidentiality. Participate in staff development and faculty activities as assigned.
