Job Summary
Assist the Special Education Teacher in achieving IEP goals through individual, small group, or whole group instruction in resource rooms and regular classrooms. Provide individualized instructional activities, maintain clerical information, and help maintain a positive classroom environment through material preparation and organization. Supervise and manage student behavior using appropriate reinforcement strategies while meeting personal needs such as toileting, feeding, and locomotion. Administer and record diagnostic tests, participate in staff meetings and professional development, and serve as a substitute teacher when assigned. Work 185 days a year at Fremont Middle School with a salary of $15.95 to $18.79 DOE.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Two years of college or 32 credits or Associates degree
- Meet or exceed cut score on Praxis Exam for the Para Pro Assessment
- Past successful experience working with school age children
- May need to be able to lift 50 pounds
- Positive public relations skills
