Job Summary
The Behavior Specialist will develop and implement classroom management systems and individualized behavior intervention plans for students with disabilities. Responsibilities include conducting Functional Behavior Assessments/Analyses, creating and coaching social skills implementations, leading trauma-informed practices district-wide, providing professional development on behavioral systems and best practices, observing and giving feedback on BIPs, attending workshops to stay current with legislation and student advocacy requirements, and maintaining or improving the district’s internal and external image. The role also involves establishing annual objectives with supervision, responding to inquiries promptly, and recognizing that the listed tasks are illustrative of responsibilities. Requires a Bachelor's degree or higher and appropriate licensure or licenses in Special Education; BCBA preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited institution
- Professional Educator License (PEL) in Special Education or approved for USBE's Associate Educator License (AEL) in Special Education
- Non-licensed applicants: An Associate Educator License (AEL) from the Utah State Board of Education is required
- State certification
- Relevant teaching experience
- Knowledge of relevant technology
- Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) preferred
