Job Summary
Take direction from classroom teachers and building staff to support students with autism spectrum disorder in compliance with individual learning plans. Assist with orientation, reading, music, art, and physical education curriculum tasks while following prescribed behavioral management programs. Provide physical mobility support, including bus transfers, and assist with self-care, personal hygiene, toileting, feeding, and monitoring of medical devices. Participate in physical activities, lunch, and recess, and supervise students during non-classroom activities. Distribute materials, prepare instructional supplies, correct student work, and report learning plan successes and difficulties to special educators. Maintain confidentiality and interact appropriately with students, parents, and staff.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma
- Regular, reliable and punctual attendance
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality
- Demonstrated ability to interact appropriately and effectively with students, parents, and staff
- Competence for assigned responsibilities, including ability to meet the physical and academic needs of students
- Excellent attendance record
- Flexibility
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
