Job Summary
Assist licensed instructional staff in delivering academic, social, emotional, and behavioral programming for special education students through individual and group instruction. Implement, adapt, or develop curriculum materials and collaborate on planning educational and behavioral interventions. Provide direct support and supervision of students in various settings, including the playground, lunchroom, and media center, while completing clerical duties such as materials preparation, communications, and recordkeeping. Maintain proper documentation in accordance with district policies and participate in staff development activities as requested.

- Ability to function effectively as a team member and work collaboratively with others
- Ability and willingness to be flexible and respond to the changing needs of students and the district
- Ability to handle information in a confidential manner
- Ability to prioritize and coordinate multiple tasks
- Ability to convey a positive and professional image to students, families and colleagues
- Ability to provide crisis intervention support (after proper training)
- Ability to read and interpret documents, write reports and correspondence
- Ability to use and integrate technology appropriately in daily work which includes, but not limited to, application of basic computer skills to effectively use email, internet, word processing and ipad applications
- Maintains positive professional relationships and behavior
- The position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical eight hour workday
