Job Summary
Special Education Assistant Teacher in Framingham Public Schools supporting students in an inclusion setting (Pre-K) under the direction of a certified teacher. Responsibilities include assisting with daily classroom activities, supporting students with and without disabilities, helping with academic and behavioral needs, administering routine assessments, collecting data, and ensuring student safety and dignity. Requires associate degree or higher (or 48 college credits), Parapro certification/requirements, and readiness to collaborate with teachers, families, and staff. Proficiency with technology (Google Workspace for Education) and commitment to confidentiality and district policies. Includes duties such as crisis management support, data collection, and assisting with instructional planning and reporting. A $1,400 stipend is available for eligible autism/multi-disabilities scenarios.
Required Qualifications
- Associate (or higher) degree, or at least two years of post-secondary education equivalent to at least 48 credit hours
- Parapro Test required or must pass Parapro Test
- Experience or background in working with children, especially students with disabilities in Autism, Developmental Delays, Multiple Disabilities, Learning Disabilities, and Emotional Disabilities (preferred)
- Specialized training in child development, education, or related field desirable
- Strong communication skills (oral and written)
- Ability to read, analyze, interpret professional literature, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
- Data collection and reporting skills for student progress
- Proficiency with technology and Google Workspace for Education
- Confidentiality and FERPA/HIPAA compliance
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, families, and staff
- Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and belonging
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and participate in ongoing professional learning
- Ability to implement and support IEP provisions
- Ability to support daily living activities and student independence
