Job Summary
Under general supervision, provides a variety of services to assist students with special needs in a learning environment; assists MPS staff to develop and implement appropriate individualization lessons and activities for students with disabilities; helps students to meet their therapy and education goals. Responsibilities include supporting children with moderate to severe disabilities, facilitating educational functions, reinforcing classroom learning, promoting positive behavior and socialization, monitoring student activities, maintaining behavior documentation and IEP/FBA-related records, assisting with transitions (medications, meals, buses, classes), and providing daily hygiene support as directed by licensed staff. Position designation is Intervention SEA in least restrictive environments, with potential variability in assignment; must be able to travel as needed. Preferred qualifications include an Associate's degree in Education/Child Development/Behavioral Sciences or related field and CPI/First Aid CPR training within one year. Physical demands include lifting up to 50 pounds and regular movement within classroom settings.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of 90 quarter/60 semester college credits or higher
- OR
- A passing score of 460 (or higher) on the ParaPro Assessessment AND either a high school diploma or a GED certificate
- AND
- Two years of experience working with children.
