Job Summary
Under general supervision, provides support to students with special needs in a learning environment; assists staff to develop and implement individualized lessons and activities for students with disabilities; helps students meet therapy and education goals. Responsibilities include reinforcing positive behaviors, individual instruction, socialization, and communication; monitor activities, maintain behavior documentation and files for IEP, FBA, and related programs (SAIL); assist with transitions for medications, meals, buses, and classes; assist with daily hygiene and community/school activities; may provide support in various settings as part of an Intervention SEA role; field/transportation requirements may apply; position requires in-person work at Kenwood Elementary with partial full-time equivalence (FTE 0.7875) across the school year. LICENSES/CERTS: First Aid/CPR/AED, CPI training, Special Education Orientation within one year.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of 90 quarter/60 semester college credits or higher OR a passing score of 460 (or higher) on the ParaPro Assessessment AND either a high school diploma or a GED certificate
- Two years of experience working with children
- Two years of experience working with children. Additional education or training may substitute for experience. Related experience may also be considered, at the discretion of Human Resources.
- First Aid/CPR/AED, CPI training, and Special Education Orientation is required within one year.
