Job Summary
Special Education Assistant (Program) [ASD] at Camden High provides support to students with disabilities in a learning environment, assisting staff with development and implementation of individualized lessons, promoting independence and inclusion, and helping students meet therapy and education goals. Responsibilities include supporting students with moderate to severe disabilities, facilitating educational functions, maintaining records and data, assisting with daily care, promoting community and vocational skills, communicating with families, and ensuring a safe learning environment in accordance with district policies and the IEP/FBA processes. The role requires collaboration with diverse staff, adherence to confidentiality, and potential mobility between sites; bilingual/SEA cadre duties may apply. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, completion of college credits or ParaPro, and prior experience with children, plus required licenses/training (First Aid/CPR/AED, de-escalation, crisis response) within specified timelines.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- AND Monitors completion of 90 quarter or 60 semester college credits in Education, Child Development, Behavioral Sciences or educational area related to position assignment; OR
- Passing score of 460 (or higher) on the ParaPro Assessment; AND
- Two (2) years of paid experience working with children; OR
- Equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.
- Minnesota State Driver’s License may be required.
- Special Education Assistant Onboarding Training required within sixty (60) days of date of employment.
- First Aid/CPR/AED, de-escalation and crisis response training, and Special Education Orientation required within one (1) year of date of employment based on assignment.
