Special Education Assistant - Life Skills (Tosch)

Special Education Assistant (Life Skills) supports the certified teacher in the instructional and functional needs of students with disabilities in a Mesquite ISD classroom. Responsibilities include assisting with instructional programs and self-help/behavior management, aiding in material preparation, maintaining administrative records, supervising students in and out of the classroom (lunchroom, bus, playground), assisting with student transfers and personal care (including feeding, bathroom needs, and positioning), monitoring and supporting students with physical disabilities, and providing orientation to substitute teachers. Requires collaboration with staff, effective communication, following verbal and written instructions, and maintaining confidentiality; prior experience with children preferred. Work in a full-time school setting at Tosch Elementary School under general supervision of a principal and direct supervision of a certified teacher.
