Special Education Assistant II (Autism-base) - Lakeside Middle School - 2026-27 School Year

Special Education Assistant II provides support to the instructional program with specific responsibility for assisting in the supervision, care, and instruction of students with special needs; implementing plans for instruction; monitoring student behavior; documenting activities and progress; and supporting students’ IEP goals. The role includes extended classroom support, data collection and analysis, coordinating with the special education teacher and specialists, and assisting with materials setup, 1:1/small group/whole class instruction, and routine clerical duties under supervision. Knowledge of behavior intervention strategies, collaboration with school staff, and maintaining student records are essential, along with the ability to work with students who have disabilities and to follow CPR and safety protocols when needed. Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; CPR certification desired. Location: Albemarle County Public Schools, Charlottesville, VA.
