Special Education Assistant

Job Summary
Support students with documented medical needs in lunchroom and other school settings; assist with bus arrival/departure; work as a team with teachers and other support staff; assist with self-care needs including personal hygiene and toileting; monitor health and progress records; accompany students on field trips; willing to be trained in seizure protocol, administering medications, and care for diabetes/asthma/allergy needs; assist students with classroom activities and assignments as requested by the teacher; escort students between rooms; ensure safety of students, staff, and classmates.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent and at least one of the following: Associates or Bachelor's degree.
- 60 credit hours from approved post secondary institution, or CDA certificate with the ability to complete additional 30 hours.
- Have passing score on one of the following state approved academic assessments: MTTC or ETS ParaPro Assessment.
- Must be able to perform academic work at the level of assignment (K-8 or secondary).
- Experience working with school-aged children.
