Job Summary
Provide instructional support to students with disabilities in pre K–12 and adult special education settings under general supervision. Assist with daily instructional tasks, support students with special needs in learning and using instructional materials and equipment, help develop appropriate social behaviors through positive reinforcement, assist with transporting students to and from buses/classrooms/events, supervise students during meals and activities, support diverse learners, maintain records and perform related clerical duties, and may travel between locations. Requires strong communication with the instructional team, knowledge of special education procedures, and ability to adapt to individual student needs. CPR/First Aid certifications and a valid CA driver’s license may be required; coursework or certification in related field and completed training are desirable.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma
- AA degree or 48 college units or CBEST (in lieu)
- Current CPR certification
- First Aid certification
- Possession of a valid California Driver’s License (may be required)
- Successful completion of Instructional Assistant Proficiency Examination (or appropriate certification)
- Commitment to complete two required trainings within the first six months
