Job Summary
Provide academic and behavioral supports for students with disabilities in a residential setting; collaborate with classroom staff to implement individualized lessons and activities, assist students across multiple needs (autism, mental/physical impairments, behavioral disorders, deaf/hard of hearing, visual impairments); establish positive relationships and model appropriate social skills, assist with behavior management using proactive strategies, and support staff in meeting therapy and education goals in the Metro Education – Residential program.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or higher in Education or closely related area
- Completed 90 quarter or 60 semester college credits from an accredited institution
- A passing score of 460 (or higher) on the ParaPro Assessment AND either a high school diploma or a GED certificate
- Two (2) years of professional experience working with children
- First Aid/CPR/AED, Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training, and Special Education Orientation within one year
