Job Summary
Cross Categorical Special Education Assistant supports the teacher in implementing IEPs and assisting students with educational needs.Responsibilities include helping students develop independence, providing lavatory and lunch supervision, assisting with class transitions, bus loading/unloading, and participation in therapy programs while maintaining academic and behavioral standards set by the certified teacher. Applicants must be Highly Qualified per Canton City School District: two years of college (48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours) or an Associate’s Degree or Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment; must have a valid Educational Aide Permit or obtain one upon employment. Location: Canton, Ohio. Employment is full-time (6.5 hours/day, 191 days/year).
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Educational Aide Permit
- Two (2) years of college (Minimum of 48 Semester Hours, or 72 Quarter Hours), or possess an Associate’s Degree, or passed the Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment Exam.
- Submit Praxis Paraprofessional Assessment Exam results or college transcripts to verify Highly Qualified Status.
