Job Summary
Special Education Assistant (SERIS) at Loring Elementary provides support services to students with disabilities, assists staff to develop and implement individualized lessons, promotes inclusion and self-advocacy, and helps students meet therapy and education goals. Duties include supporting learning activities, applying behavior support plans, recording progress, assisting with student transitions, promoting a safe classroom, maintaining documentation for IEPs/FBA/SAIL, and communicating with parents while maintaining confidentiality. Bilingual specialists may work with English Language Learner students across multiple languages. Requires flexibility to move across sites and completion of onboarding and safety trainings.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- monitors 90 quarter or 60 semester college credits in Education, Child Development, Behavioral Sciences or related area OR
- Passing score of 460 on ParaPro OR
- Two (2) years of paid experience working with children OR
- Equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by HR
