Special Education Aide

Job Summary
Assist identified students enrolled in special education programs with daily living needs, academic tasks per IEP, and individualized instruction. Implement behavior management plans, support small group learning, and aid the classroom instructor with disaster drills, field trips, and parent conferences. Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and seek supervisor guidance as needed. Perform duties assigned by the building principal or special education coordinator, including occasional vehicle operation in inclement weather and interaction with unruly children. Requires an Educational Aide Permit and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Required to lift, carry, push and pull various supplies and/or equipment up to a maximum of 50 pounds
- Educational Aide Permit from the State Board of Education
Desired Qualifications
- One to two years related experience preferred
- Willing to help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values
