Job Summary
Special Education Aide to support a certified teacher in a special education setting. Responsibilities include assisting with instructional materials and classroom displays, maintaining a neat and orderly classroom, inventories and equipment care, assisting with administrative records and substitute-teacher orientation, and providing direct support to students with disabilities. Duties cover instructional support, student management (including transfers to/from wheelchairs, lifting, personal care, feeding, hygiene), behavior management, and ensuring confidentiality. Role involves supervising students throughout the day in and out of the classroom and participating in staff development and faculty events. Requires the ability to work with children with disabilities, follow verbal and written instructions, communicate effectively, and use general office equipment. Working conditions include frequent standing and heavy lifting of students, with exposure to biological hazards.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate
