Job Summary
Assist identified students in meeting daily living needs, academic requirements under IEP guidance, and individual or small group instruction while implementing behavior management plans. Support classroom instructors with disaster drills, field trips, parent conferences, and recess supervision. Maintain professional confidentiality and seek supervisor assistance as needed. Perform assigned duties including lifting up to 50 pounds and occasional vehicle operation in inclement weather. Work environment involves frequent hours extending beyond the normal workday and occasional exposure to bodily fluids.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Required to lift, carry, push and pull various supplies and/or equipment up to a maximum of 50 pounds
- Educational Aide Permit from the State Board of Education
Desired Qualifications
- One to two years related experience preferred
- Willing to help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values
