Special Education Aide

Special Education Paraprofessional in Ferndale Area School District: provide classroom assistance, help with equipment care and maintenance, assist students with physical disabilities (transfers to/from wheelchairs, lifting/positioning), assist with personal care (feeding, bathroom, hygiene), support individualized and small-group instruction, supervise students during meals, bus, and playground, support behavior management, assist with administrative records and keep confidentiality. Requires 8:00 AM–3:30 PM schedule, hourly pay starting at $13, willingness to complete required clearances and training (including four clearances, mandated reporter training, physical and TB test, and First Aid-CPR). Preferred qualifications include an associate degree or two years of postsecondary study, or completion of a state/local assessment, plus ongoing staff development (20 hours/year).
