Job Summary
Assist special education teachers and substitute teachers by preparing instructional materials, managing administrative records, and supporting students with physical and behavioral needs according to their Individualized Educational Plans. Provide personal care assistance, help manage student behavior, and supervise students inside and outside the classroom while maintaining confidentiality. Adapt to each student's special needs and participate in staff development training and special events as assigned. Complete the required SBEC certification process and work in an inclusive setting with frequent standing, lifting up to 25 lbs, and occasional stressful interruptions.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Associate degree or two years of higher education
- Ability to work with children with disabilities
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- Must be able to lift 25lbs
- Ability to work in stressful environment
- Ability to work with frequent interruptions
- Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, and pulling
- Assume shared responsibility for the health, safety, and confidentiality of all students and adults
- Implementing, supporting and documenting behavioral intervention strategies
- Providing school health, related, and personal care services
