Job Summary
Provide instructional, behavioral, and personal care support to students with disabilities to promote access to learning and student well-being. Assist teachers with instructional activities, behavior supports, and individualized student needs in accordance with documented plans. Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive learning environment by assisting with classroom operations, supervision, and daily routines under the direction of certified instructional staff. Duties include preparing instructional materials, supporting inventory and documentation, orienting substitutes, assisting with mobility and personal care (feeding, toileting, personal hygiene), supervising students across classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms, and during bus duty, and participating in professional development and district procedures. Requires ability to follow verbal and written instructions, exercise discretion with confidential information, and communicate observations to teachers. Education and certification requirements include high school diploma or GED with assessment, 48 college credits or associate degree or higher, and Texas Educational Aide certificate or ability to obtain upon hire. Proficient in organizing, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication; supportive of students with disabilities and able to adapt to individual needs as per documented plans.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED, with ability to pass paraprofessional assessment
- Completion of 48 semester hours of college credit; or
- Associate degree or higher
- Current Texas Educational Aide certificate or ability to obtain upon hire
- Experience: Must be 18 years of age or older; Experience working with children
