Job Summary
Assist teachers with planning instructional materials, managing student behavior, and adapting tools to individual learning levels. Provide direct support for students with special medical, physical, and emotional needs, including transferring wheelchairs, assisting with personal care, and maintaining classroom order. Supervise students throughout the day in classrooms, lunchrooms, buses, and playgrounds while enforcing school rules and safety procedures. Maintain administrative records, prepare reports, and attend support classes or special events as assigned. Ensure confidentiality and ethical behavior while performing other duties requested by teachers or principals.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required in English
- Forty-eight (48) university, college and/or vocational level hours with core subjects from an accredited institution of higher education
- Associate's (or higher) Official Transcript/Diploma
- Experience working with students or parents as approved by the employing superintendent
- Experience in work in church-related schools, day camps, youth groups, private schools, licensed daycare centers, or similar experience
- Current Full-Time Brownsville ISD employee
- Valid Educational Aide Certification
- Met a rigorous standard quality
- Demonstrated, through a formal state or local assessment knowledge and ability to assist in instruction (TOPS training)
