Job Summary
Assist special education teachers in implementing classroom programs, including self-help, behavior management, and instruction. Help prepare instructional materials, maintain classroom order, manage equipment inventory, and keep administrative records. Support students with physical and emotional disabilities through transfers, personal care, and behavior de-escalation. Supervise students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty, while intervening in crisis situations as needed. Maintain confidentiality and participate in staff development and training programs. Requires a valid Texas educational aide certificate, high school diploma, and ability to work with children with disabilities.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas educational aide certificate
- Ability to work with children with disabilities
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- Some experience working with children
- Obtain Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Regular heavy lifting of students
- Biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases
