Job Summary
Special Education Aide position supporting adults transitioning from high school to post-secondary settings under the guidance of a Certified Teacher. Responsibilities include assisting with Adult Transition Program management, implementing IEPs, preparing instructional materials, scoring and administering tests, maintaining classroom organization, and supporting students with physical disabilities (including transfers, lifting, and personal care). The role involves supervising students during the school day (lunchroom, bus, playground), assisting substitute teachers, coordinating with staff, maintaining confidential records, and pursuing professional development aligned with district goals. Requires strong communication, ability to work with diverse learners, and adherence to district safety and ethics policies. On-site in Fort Worth, TX, with no remote work.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate
- For Title-funded positions: associate degree or two years of study at an institution of higher learning
- Experience working with children
- Experience in educational environment (preferred)
- Ability to work with children with disabilities
- Ability to work well with children
- Skill in working with a variety of students
- Ability to read, understand and follow detailed written and verbal instructions
- Ability to effectively present information one-on-one
- Certification/qualification as Educational Aide in Texas
