Job Summary
Provide assistance and motivation to students with disabilities in general and special education classrooms, working with one student or small groups to build independence and social skills. Implement prevention and response strategies from Behavior Intervention Plans and supports from Individual Health Plans, including toileting and meal assistance. Gather and maintain accurate data on academic, behavioral, and health information to improve instruction. Use assistive technology, computers, and adaptive equipment as needed. Communicate effectively with teachers, co-workers, parents, and students while maintaining confidentiality and practicing professional, legal, and ethical conduct.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate
- Previous experience working with children
- Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals and groups from all levels of the organization
- Effective listening skills
- Ability to gather, collate, and/or classify data
- Ability to work with a variety of data
- Problem solving required to identify issues and create action plans
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
- Must be able to use the computer
- Must be able to process electronic requests
- Must be able to learn different communication devices from pictures/symbols to individual student augmentative communication devices
- Must be able to retrieve and print information from various computer programs when needed
- Must be able to engage in physical activity associated with active supervision of students
Desired Qualifications
