Job Summary
Special Ed Teacher- Preschool. Provides and supervises comprehensive educational services and intervention to preschool children in an inclusive, small, non-public special education setting. Adapt lesson plans, deliver direct instruction, manage classroom activities with an Early Childhood Teacher, supervise support staff, and develop IEPs with the support team. Responsible for training staff in data collection and monitoring, writing quarterly and summer progress notes, coordinating with CPSE, communicating progress to families, and ensuring compliance with NYSED and related regulations. Requires collaboration to implement behavior management techniques and to coordinate staffing for daycare hours, with ongoing professional development and meetings. Strong knowledge of autism and developmental disabilities, and proficiency with common computer software. Masters preferred; teaching certification and NYS credential preferred; ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Special Education or Education and NYS teaching certification preferred
- Bachelor’s degree and initial certification may be considered
- NYS Students with Disabilities credential preferred
- Teaching or early childhood program experience preferred
- Knowledge of autism and other developmental disabilities
- Proficiency in or knowledge of using Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word; aptitude to learn other software
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs. independently and assist in weights exceeding 50 lbs.
