Job Summary

Collaborate with students, parents, and staff to develop Individualized Education Programs through the ARD Committee process. Implement instructional, therapeutic, or skill development programs while maintaining required documentation and conducting ongoing formal and informal assessments of student achievement. Deliver instruction in accordance with each student's IEP using varied techniques and modify curriculum as needed for inclusion. Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and IEP requirements, including crisis intervention strategies when appropriately trained. Provide or supervise personal care, medical care, and feeding as required by student IEPs. Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and student development, assigning and overseeing work of instructional aides and volunteers. Maintain open communication with parents, students, and staff while complying with federal, state, district, and campus policies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required special education endorsement(s) for assignment
  • Knowledge of the needs of students with disabilities in assigned area
  • Knowledge of the ARD Committee process and Individualized Education Program (IEP) development and implementation
  • Knowledge of curriculum adaptation and differentiated instructional strategies
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Student teaching, approved internship, or related experience
